((Intended to be around three moons after Bearshadow was named deputy, he and likely Chervilpaw, though that's up to Leopard, have recovered fully from their wounds. I will not be choosing any cats deemed inactive during the June Activity Check. Cats involved are Bearshadow (blossom ), Quietpaw(burnstar ), Honeyleaf (Fallen ), and Chervilpaw (Leopard ). This will be the sunhigh patrol. Notably I like using these border patrol intros to show how Bearshadow feels about everyone at the time, as well as his thoughts on recent events.))
Bearshadow stood just inside the entrance to the RoseClan camp, his eyes narrowed as he gazed around at the cats bustling through the camp. Tensions had been high lately, and everyone had plenty to do. As short handed as they were, this made it much more difficult to find able bodied cats to lead patrols, and he found that he was running himself slowly into the ground. He had lead three patrols in the last two days, and when he wasn't doing that he was organizing patrols, hunting parties, hunting himself or training Quietpaw. The last of which had proven easily the most difficult.
He was not the type of cat to dwell on his own flaws, and he hated admitting to his own weakness, but he was struggling to learn how to communicate with the young cat. Not that it seemed to him as though Quietpaw really wanted him around. If not for his long practiced restraint, the aging tom probably would have strangled her by now. Some days he nearly did. She was brave though, he had to give the young cat that. Plus, she was already as good a climber as he was at such a young age, and he was happy to try and foster that strength.
He yawned absentmindedly, before shaking his large head. He was waiting to join the Sunhigh patrol with Honeyleaf, Chervilpaw and his own apprentice. He chose Chervilpaw to join him or other experienced warriors often, knowing well that Echostar had just as much to do as he did in order to keep things running smoothly. He knew that his leader's apprentice had already been set back by her injuries, and not having her mentor be able to spend enough time training her was not a good way to get her back on track. Besides, somewhere along the line he had developed a soft spot for her, though he wasn't really sure why. Perhaps it was her positive attitude, since it easily combated his own pessimism. He was concerned that she didn't seem to pay enough attention to her own developing skills, but he was set on making sure she became a warrior on time.
The other warrior of their group, Honeyleaf, was a cat he knew little about. What he did know was she was loyal, friendly enough and listened to orders. That was all that mattered to him. At 19 moons she still didn't have an apprentice, and if it weren't for Quietpaw's disability, he would have strongly recommended her as the she-cats mentor. Still, whenever he could he made sure to send her out with a busy warrior's apprentice, in hopes that she would know he was thinking of her, and in hope Echostar would agree that she was ready. It would soon be her time, he was certain.
He got to his feet as he saw members of the patrol approaching, swishing his tail and dipping his head in greeting. He had been trying to use certain gestures he had seen Quietpaw use to communicate in hopes that it would make his apprentice more comfortable with him. As of yet he had seen nothing that had proved whether or not this strategy was effective.
